About Savannah

SAVANNAH is a cute little 8 year old, 9 pound black and white female Pomeranian. LOCATION: Pensacola FL NEEDS: quiet home, fence yard, another small dog friend. HIGHLIGHTS: Curious and sweet Savannah came in as an owner surrender with a big bunch of Poms. Like her sister Wendy, Savannah is one of the most unsocialized of the group. She is so adorable you will want to pick her up and cuddle but she has not gained that kind of trust yet. When her foster picks her up she will look stressed at first but will settle eventually. She will trust your hand with a food dish coming her way but she will dart away if food is not involved. She is still not entirely comfortable accepting food from her foster mom's hand. Savannah will use a potty pad and will go outside with her person to potty. She really loves to go outside and with a routine, she does really well her house breaking. She will run outside with the pack ahead of her foster mom. She will go inside on her own or with her foster mom standing near the door. She will lift both her rear legs off the ground to pee which is a unique technique. Savannah is a funny and entertaining little girl. She started to play with toys and especially loves squeaky toys. She also really likes her fluffy donut bed and will do a gator roll in her bed when she is happy. Savannah also sits in her bed with her front paws up waving them like she is either praying or begging for something. At first, she would grumble if one of the other foster family's dogs came near. With time she has gained confidence with other dogs. Now, she will go up and sniff them when outside. When her foster mom leaves, she will pace the house and give out a few whiny howls. She eventually settles down and sleeps in her bed. Savannah is being fostered with Wendy, another Pomeranian who came from the same place. They depend on each other for comfort and confidence, but have had their grumbles with each other. Savannah really loves Wendy though and is always excited to see her. They are very friendly and love playing with each other. Savannah is making progress but has some behaviors to work through. She is not leash trained and needs a secure fenced yard. She seems to do well with other dogs who are calm and confident but respect her space until she determines she can approach them. She will be afraid of kids and we don't know how she would be with cats but she should go to a home with at least one other little dog in it, preferably a Pomeranian. Savannah's curiosity in her new life is the key helping her learn how to live a life as a pet among people and dogs. Savannah has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, spayed and has had a dental, is fecal tested, heartworm negative has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral issues are only adoptable within a 1 hour drive to Pensacola. *We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a facility. Our dogs live in private homes in and around the Pensacola area until they are adopted. *To meet a dog or be considered for adoption you must first submit an adoption application for review.
