*TO SUBMIT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION GO TO WWW.APLACEOFHOPERESCUE.COM* EDNA is an almost 5 year old, 21 pound (she's been snacking) beautiful female Italian Greyhound-Chihuahua mix LOCATION: Pensacola FL NEEDS: A relaxed, reliable home life and safe environment, no small kids, fenced yard, lots of love and reassurance. HIGHLIGHTS: Loyal companion, well behaved, friendly and sweet! Edna was surrendered to us along with her fur brother who was a previous APOH rescue. The two dogs were found in a hotel in Texas and when we were notified about them, we made sure they found their way back to us. Edna took a while to decompress but she's doing much better now. She still shows some signs of anxiety and can be timid, but she grows more confident every day. Edna does well with positive reinforcement, love and attention, a calm home life, daily play and activity, and let's not forget treats (she does need to cut back a bit on those)! She has a sweet personality and is generally good with everyone she meets and begs for attention from any and all. Edna is very attuned to her person, is always close by and greets you the minute you walk in the door. Her devotion and love for her person is reflected in her beautiful brown eyes, through her cuddles and kisses, and by the way she hugs someone she loves, then tucks her head under their chin. Besides the sweet and loving side to Edna, there is also excited Edna who has a prancing march and kicks her front feet up high like a soldier. Her smile lights up her face when you talk to her and watching her do zoomies is pure delight. Edna plays too%BD%BD%BD'%BD%BD%BD|with toys (she's a bit of a hoarder), with one of her foster sisters, and will play chase with you. She likes to have her head rubbed and a little wrestling can get her going! During the day, she usually lies close in her foster mama's office. She enjoys frequent outings to the back yard, a bit of play time and pats on the head and scratches behind the ears. Taking a walk is also a favorite evening activity, as is going on car rides. A fenced yard would be best for her as she does like to get out and make some laps around the back yard! Edna would be best as an only dog as she is jealous of other dogs. That said she does get along with one of her foster sisters who is very laid back and bigger than she is. If there is another dog in the home it must be a bigger dog with the right personality. Even then there may be some scraps between the two. She has no problem with the cat in her foster home. We have not tested her with children but don't think kids are her best fit. She doesn't do well in a home with a lot of energy, loud noises and barking, people coming and going, dogs sniffing her, and so forth. Edna doesn't like being left alone and someone who is home more than they are away would be best for her. She minds well, has good house manners, is potty trained and knows how to use a doggy door. Edna sleeps in the big bed with her person and enjoys snuggling under the covers. She has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, spayed, fecal and heartworm tested, has had 12 month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. She is heartworm positive and has been started on treatment that is covered by the rescue until she tests negative. We cannot stress enough how sweet this dog is! Edna just needs the right calm loving home and she will be the most loyal best friend furever!
