About Finn

American Shorthair / Domestic Cat
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

We rescued Finn as a stray from our neighborhood 1-2 years ago. He is only a few years old. He has very thick fur, a full tummy, and calloused paw pads. He warmed up to us and now splits his time between spending the day outside, sleeping and exploring. Then coming in through the cat door for nighttime snuggles. We love Finn very dearly. As a stray he's had a stressful life and we want him to go to a forever home where he feels safe. A suitable home for Finn would be one with only 1 other cat or none at all. If you have older kids (10-18) and or calm dogs. He may also be suitable for your home. He NEEDS to be able to spend time outside every day. He will stay inside for food, sleep, and snuggles when he wants to. But he does not enjoy being kept inside a room and gets unhappy when he is not able to go outside. Finn does occasionally play with toys. He loves laser pointers, ribbon and string wands, and catnip toys. He is very agile and will run around and jump a few feet in the air when playing with the wands. For catnip toys and other things he holds in his front paws, he will grip tightly and kick with his back feet. Don't try to take it from him when he does that. Finn is laid back and (partially) lazy. He likes to eat, sleep, and snuggle. He will lay with you while you watch TV. He'll even nestle right in your arm or into your lap if you sit up. When he is snuggly he enjoys being propped on your shoulder, holding his back feet while his front paws go over your shoulder (like a baby). He will lick your hands and face. Despite his time as a stray, he is very gentle. He takes treats from our hands by barely biting the treat. We are even able to hold a treat between our lips and he takes it gently. Adjectives I'd use to describe Finn include the following. Happy, sleepy, agile, full-of-energy, goofy, affectionate, gentle, independent, and food-motivated. He is an extremely sweet cat. It breaks our family's heart to have to adopt him out, but he needs a home with less cats. Above everything, we want him to feel safe, loved, and happy. He will try to eat human food. He can be discouraged by just gently pushing him away or setting him down elsewhere.
