About Millie

Adoption Fee: $175
Bluetick Coonhound mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Meet Millie! Millie is a 55 pound bluetick coonhound who is guessed to be about 8 years old. Millie has endured neglect like few of us can imagine. It's amazing to see what love and care can do for the physical and behavioral health of an animal! We are proud of saving Millie and are ready to help her complete her rags to riches, fairly tale ending with a forever home! Millie loves to follow around the younger dogs in the house as they rough house and play, just checking to make sure everyone is playing fair and having a good time. She has been introduced to kids 6+ and passed with flying colors. She is quiet but will bark when breakfast and dinner are being served and will alert you to people walking by but only if the beagles do so first. She loves her naps and often goes to her crate to take a little siesta before finding the kids to play with. Millie has come a long way since joining ADA, she used to rely solely on interactions with the other dogs of the house but now this sweet girl loves to find humans to get ear scratches from and isn't afraid of the TV anymore. Millie would love to have another dog in the house and with slow intros could probably manage a cat or two. Millie does try to counter surf but has not been destructive when left to free roam in the house. Her potty training is going great and she will actively seek to go outside and stand at the door when she needs a bathroom break. Millie is a jewel! We hope that you can see that too! A reduced adoption fee of $100 does apply for Millie, our seniors, special medical and behavioral needs dogs and other 'slow to adopt' dogs! Augusta Dog Adoptions is a 501c3, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
