About Alfie

What's It All About 'Alfie' is an approximately 6 month old, female, spayed Basenji/Husky mix who came to the shelter as the leader of her pack of 3 litter mates. All the puppies found homes, but Alfie was returned because, according to her adopters, she was not compatible with a senior Boxer and cat in the home. More recently, Alfie has been walking like a gem on leash with a variety of other shelter dogs with no issues. She also has a shelter dog playmate she loves running around with in our big backyard. We think Alfie just needed time to mature and grow into her more sociable vibe. Alfie excels at learning; she's a smart dog who responds well to training and knows sit and shake. She will do best in a home that can give her the kind of intellectual and outdoor engagement that will keep her grounded and settled. She probably would enjoy an active, compatible playmate, and plenty of adventures. A home without small children will be best for Alfie because as a 'child' dog herself right now, she has the kind of speed and energy that could accidentally knock a little one over.
