About Buddy

Buddy is around 7 years old & according to his vet, about 90% chihuahua & 10% terrier. He will bite if he is feeling threatened. It takes him a few hours to adjust to a new environment. I rescued him from an elderly couple where the man passed away & the lady started to need full-time care & had dementia. He was initially not happy leaving his home, but later in the day he warmed up to me & we bonded ever since. He definitely prefers a one-on-one situation. He met my teen daughter who stays with me 2 weeks on & off, so he learned to tolerate her, but still shows some dominance. When out on short, daily walks, he is not friendly towards other people or animals as he is very protective of me. But when we're together indoors he loves being on my lap & getting all the attention & belly rubs. He's very smart so I believe he has the potential to go through a temperament & skills training but it may take him longer to break old habits of being extra protective & not as social. I have to surrender him due to my own parents' declining health & trying to help them. I cannot take him with me unfortunately. I would love to find Buddy the right home where he would thrive & be happy.
