About Blake

Westie / Poodle
Age: Young Puppy
Sex: Male

(*Please note although Tate is located in Bakersfield we are able to drive him to his new home and do a homecheck if you are in Kern County, Tulare County, Fresno County, Eastern Ventura County or the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles County as well as going to Paso Robles. Otherwise potential adopters would need to come to Bakersfield. ALL potential adopters are required to be available for a zoom call.) Meet Blake!! We have had many sweet dogs come into rescue, but paws down, Blake is the absolute sweetest! This 4 month old mix of Westie, Poodle and something else is a total lover. He loves people, he loves dogs and he just loves cats too! He wants to make friends with every cat he meets and loves to instigate play with other dogs! He has a non-shedding coat that is a butterscotch color with white. He came from a home that adopted him from a person who had a litter of puppies and then after several weeks decided that they did not have time. He was with kids so he is awesome with little people too! In rescue he is in a private foster home with large dogs and small as well as several cats. It took him less than a day to adjust and before we knew it he was as happy as happy can be! He loves to give kisses and doesn't at all mind being held. He is a superstar with housebreaking. He either uses a wee wee pad and is now also learning to go outside. He has a great appetite and is not aggressive or pushy about food. He has started showing his preference for soft, small stuffed animals and we think as he grows up will make a great travel dog. He would do well in many different kinds of settings and of course he makes for a great family dog because he is so sweet and gentle with kids. His adoption fee includes: 1. Current vaccines (DAPP) 2. Deworming 3. Microchip 4. Neuter (at 6 months of age per the terms of our contract) 5. Starter food (Blue Puppy and grain free wet) 6. Harness and leash His adoption fee is $400. As we prescreen via email ONLY (we do NOT make or receive phone calls in the pre-screening phase) please tell us a bit about you such as: 1. Your lifestyle, activity level and work schedule. 2. Area you live in and if it is a house or apartment. (Please indicate city) 3. How many adults, children and pets in the household. 4. Where your pet stays when you are out or at work. 5. Where your pet will sleep. 6. Dog breed experience 7. Have you ever had to give up a pet 8. If you do not currently have a pet how you will keep Blake socialized with other dogs Some notes to consider before applying for Blake: 1. Blake is an almost 4 month old puppy Please make sure that everyone is on board and ready for the responsibility of a young dog such as housebreaking. He will need continued training to make sure he becomes the best canine citizen possible. 2. Please make sure you are ready to adopt before coming to see our adoptable dogs. We are a foster based rescue and do not have the space to hold dogs for a couple of weeks while you vacation or make your way to California to come and adopt. We will adopt out of state but ONLY if the potential adopter comes here to adopt in person and that is after a screening by Skype. WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS EVER. 3. We are often inundated with emails about our adoptable dogs and try as we might to make everyone happy it is nearly impossible with only one dog and sometimes up to 50 potential families. The more information you provide in your email to us the quicker we will get back to you. If you have written to us before about a particular dog and did not receive a response please do try again. We try to answer every email but it is not always possible. Every dog has different home requirements that we search for so sometimes you are the right fit for the dog we are trying to place. 4. PLEASE do NOT send more than one email. It slows down the process. 5. We do not make appointments for people to just come 'see' the dogs available. They are in private foster homes and we go through a pre-screening process before any appointments are made. Thank you for choosing to adopt!
