About Gretchen

Gretchen was rescued from a high kill shelter where she'd been picked up as a stray,. She was in the shelter for two weeks and due to crowding was being considered for euthanasia. She is 1 year old and is now spayed, vaccinated (including rabies) and microchipped. She is 200% housebroken! (she can 'hold it' for 12 hours easily) She is very intelligent and is picking up commands fast. She is highly motivated by smell and would make an extraordinary search and rescue dog. She's learning 'sit, come, watch, leave it, kennel, high five.' She is working with a trainer on heeling and walking. She is crate trained and loves walks but came to rescue as a blank slate and had to learn about the world and everything in it...both inside and outside. She still startles sometimes if she's faced with something unfamiliar She loves people of all ages, including children, but she needs a 'no cat' home as she has a high chase instinct. She is wonderful indoors and sleeps on a thick mat on the floor in the bedroom with her rescue mom. She would thrive with a family that loves to hike, camp, jog, or play in a secure yard.
