Our Rescue President wrote the following: 'If you want to feel like the most important person in the world, go rescue a down and out senior dog at an animal shelter. I am not a particularly emotional person, but I am always affected by how resilient these broken animals are. After returning home this evening, I went down to walk Markus and he was waiting on his bed. He jumped up, waited to be leashed and was so excited to go out for a walk. It felt like he has been here a week, but it's barely 24 hours. A soft bed, some good food and a routine and this old fella's demeanor has changed 180 degrees. He arrived yesterday afternoon and was scared, sullen, fought being leashed and refused food. I am just so thrilled for this old timer - makes me sad and happy at the same time. ' Markus is about 9 years old. Neutered, current on vaccines and heartworm negative! He likes female dogs and hasn't been tested with male dogs or cats. He has some arthritis but is doing well on Carprofen. ADOPTION DETAILS: Most RHR available dogs live in foster homes. Each dog is spayed, neutered, (unless medically on hold) up to date on shots, dewormed, and microchipped. At this time, due to the size of our rescue, adoptions are limited to NORTH CAROLINA, SOUTH CAROLINA, VIRGINIA and +/-6 hours from Raleigh, NC. ADOPTION FEE: Our total adoption fee is $150, including a non-refundable $25 application fee. Fee can be paid using the 'DONATE' button on our website (www.RottweilerHeartsRescue.org) - please indicate in the notes that it is for an application fee, and the intended dog.
