About Penelope

Adoption Fee: $390
Australian Shepherd
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Hey Fort Rock/Bend areas! This is Penelope, aka Penny. She is a young, gorgeous, friendly pup only 19-month old and a 50-lb bundle of love and energy. Penny is UTD on all shots and is spayed. Foster is willing to travel for the right home. Penelope came to us because her owner didn't have time for her and compensated with food. She was a little overweight when we took her in, but with a more active lifestyle playing with two other dogs, she has really trimmed out and is showing her beautiful, athletic and sleek Aussie bod now. This dog LOVES her toys. She springs into the air for frisbees and balls, her favorite toys! She would love disc diving and agility! Because she is young, she would adapt well to an active home. She will require a home where she can run in a securely fenced area because she has a lot of energy! She also LOVES her people and will greet you with affection. Penny absolutely loves belly rubs, as much as you're willing to give her! She enjoys wrestling as well as a good game of chase. She plays well with other dogs her size and larger, but can play a bit rough with smaller ones-you know, Aussie style. She's not one to pick a fight though. She's truly a doll. Penny's training is coming along. She walks well on the leash but will need to perfect her recall; call her often with her favorite treat and frisbee and she will learn pretty quickly. She is potty trained, and in her foster home, she uses a doggie door like a pro. She is smart and knows sit, no, drop it, and lie down. She has been allowed to sleep on the bed and furniture, but beware when you stir in the morning as she thinks that's the perfect time to jump and give you kisses! Penelope was a bit under socialized and is in an extended fear period currently. She has some initial fear of strange people and dogs, and sometimes even her own reflection! She hasn't spent much time in dog parks so I would recommend more socialization to places, noises, animals, and humans as part of her continued training. Penny can be fearful of horses and deer and things she is unfamiliar with. She is not aggressive fortunately but she likes to retreat when scared. Penny just needs a person who will be gentle and patient while she builds up her confidences through experiences. This means Penny will do better in a home that understands Aussies and/or herding breeds and has some dedication and knowledge to training. We guarantee that if you put the time in with this affectionate and clever pupperoni, you will have a faithful, confident best friend for years to come. Needs: -fun, engaging active home -someone with patience, time, and training knowledge -a fenced backyard -someone who loves lots of kisses and snuggles Here are more pics to enjoy. Please know she has lost weight and is healthy and graceful now!
