Bella is a purebred Samoyed, bred by John Studebaker of Windy Ridge Samoyeds. She is very sweet and gentle, raised with my 5 homeschooled children, so had lots of attention. Per her vet, she does not look 12 years old, still playful and eager to go on walks; and still so beautiful. The attendants at the vet and our daycare love her, say she is one of their favorites! But my situation has changed and I am struggling to give her the attention she needs and to care for her. She recently had an open abdominal biopsy. Good news was no cancer seen. But the biopsy came back positive for lymphangiectasia, resulting in a malabsorption syndrome. Symptoms leading up to that had been occasional vomiting, which has resolved, and diarrhea, which is improved, now with soft stools. She was started on oral steroids to help control the inflammation in her bowel. She is otherwise healthy and has not had any previous health issues. She is up to date on her all her testing and shots. She has always had excellent vet care. This is a really hard decision and we would love ongoing contact. Hoping for a loving home that can afford to continue her care (she will need to continue on the steroids and special low fat kibble and have occasional blood draws) and can give her more time and attention.
