About Gunner

Adoption Fee: $50
Treeing Walker Coonhound / Bluetick Coonhound
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

I found Gunner advertised for free on a flyer at the local grocery store. Having other Walker Tree Hounds, I wanted to see what the story was, so I called. It turns out that Gunner came to the family as a puppy to be a hunting dog. That didn't really happen. He was chained to a tree about 50 feet from the home. I have no real idea how long he had been there as they tried to explain he had been given to another man and then brought back. He had no real shelter and it was December, so I took him immediately. We brought him into our home and began the process of helping him transition into an indoor dog. He is a very lovable dog who likes to lay in bed with you and snuggle. Our issue is that he recently bit a kid that we were going to use as a dog sitter. He also bit my husband and myself while in a frenzy as we tried to restrain him. I believe he has PTSD from his prior home. He needs a skilled trainer to work with him. I desperately want to keep him, but we have children and take that kind of risk.
