About Bambi

Bambi is a sweet chihuahua mix who has been a part of our family for the past five years. She came to us when she was 4 months old from what we have come to figure out was part of a puppy mill that was cross breeding sons with the mother. She has always been our 'special' dog. We've worked with her for years to get her house broken. She doesn't always seem to understand simple commands but is easily motivated to obey for treats and rewards. She has lived with our other chihuahua mix since she came to our house and they have always gotten along until the past six months. Our other dog has become very aggressive and territorial towards Bambi and as a result Bambi's anxiety has increased. We've tried different methods and medications to resolve their problems but nothing is getting better. Right now we have to keep them completely separated. We feel it is in Bambi's best interest to find a more suitable home where she won't be picked at. She does become aggressive towards her humans when she is in high anxiety mode after being 'yelled at' by our other dog. She does live with our seven year old son and has never bit him but has snarled and snapped at him so we would recommend older or no kids. She does live with two cats and tries to play with them but they don't always want to play back. Her play can be a little too rough for them at times. She seems to like the neighborhood dogs but she thinks by barking at them is the best way to get their attention, which usually just annoys them. She is a very sweet, loving dog. She loves to have her belly rubbed and she loves to eat and 'share' food. You can't leave food within her reach. We love her but feel it's unfair to her to keep her in the current situation and we don't know what else to do to make it better for her or our other dog. We don't want to have to rehome her but thought if we could find someone who knows what they're doing a little better than us that they could be of more benefit to her. She is loved and we will only let her go with the person(s) that are right for her.
