About Penny

PENNY is a 7 year old, 8.12 pound Min Pin Chihuahua mix LOCATION: Pensacola FL NEEDS: Love and a lap. No big dogs or kids please. HIGHLIGHTS: Loving lap dog, housebroken! ***Please read to the end for adoption information.*** Penny was surrendered to us after her owner died. A family member tried to keep her, but they had little kids in the home and that wasn't the best fit. We were happy to take her to help her find a new home. Penny is a sweet girl who loves be close to her person. She is very much a lap dog and likes cuddles and will give kisses. She still has some separation anxiety, but is getting better each day. Most of that likely has to do with her mom dying suddenly and being uprooted from her home. We think she will be fine when she gets into her own home again. Penny was an only dog in her home but is generally okay with other small dogs. She has growled a couple of times when she's in her foster mom's lap and other dogs jump up. Her foster mom just tells her no and puts her down, and that seems to be working just fine. Penny has tried to play a little with the other dogs and toys, but has not shown too much interest yet. She's still new to her foster home so that may change. We don't know how she would be with cats and we don't think kids are a great fit for her, especially not little ones. Penny is housebroken, and will even go to the door and bark to let you know she needs to go outside. She's good on a leash and likes to go for car rides. At night she sleeps in the big bed with her foster family. Penny has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, spayed, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12 month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. She will be a loving little companion for a lucky person! Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral issues are only adoptable within a 1 hour drive to Pensacola. *We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a facility. Our dogs live in private homes in and around the Pensacola area until they are adopted. *To meet a dog or be considered for adoption you must first submit an adoption application for review.
