About Joey

Joey is a very handsome and loving red merle Aussie with a tail. He is 2.5 years old and 45 pounds. Joey is house trained and crate trained, and he is a fast learner, working with his foster family on training, including obedience commands like sit, stay and come. He rides beautifully in the car and loves to go on adventures. He's curious and ready to explore! Joey is great with people - loves meeting new people and becoming their friend, for a pet or a snuggle on a sofa. His foster dad just adores him and says he's a great friend! He is still learning how to properly greet and interact with new dogs that he doesn't know, after some bad interactions with a larger intact male dog in his previous home. He specifically struggles with leashed interactions and does have some reactivity on leash when he sees other dogs. (He's otherwise good on leash!) He adores his two Aussie foster sisters. He runs and wrestles with them. He does chase cats. He has also been exposed to horses in his foster home and has learned to give them their space. Joey is a medium energy, high velcro Aussie. He loves walks, hikes, and trips to the Tractor Supply, but he's also very happy to snuggle with his foster family on the couch or chill at their feet. He's also a pretty quiet guy and doesn't bark a whole lot. Basically, Joey is an all-around wonderful guy with a lot of love to give. With ongoing structure, training, patience and new experiences, we know that Joey will blossom into his best self. He is fostered in Pasadena, MD.
