About Charlie

Adoption Fee: $100
Vizsla / Lab
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Charlie loves people more than life itself! He is what you would call a velcro-dog, always wants to be by your side and is happiest when he's getting pets. Despite his size (he's a big boy!) he is the very definition of a lap dog. Sit down on the floor and he'll plop right on top of you. He loves toys and running around sniffing things. Enjoys going to the dog park and meeting new friends and is very interested in other dogs. Great on a leash and is e-collar trained and responds to his name. Knows how to sit, shake (paw command), and how to lay down. He is responsive to both me as his caretaker and my roommates and has taken very well to his training. A good example would be our breakfast/dinner routine: I give him the 'food-time' command and he sit's at attention, I request different combinations of sitting, laying down, shaking and then have him sit in a specific location (usually out of sight, up the stairs, in a different room, etc) to await me making his food at which point I will whistle him to free him to eat his meal. He does not chew on things other than his toys and is not destructive. He is an anxious boy and demands pets from those that come into his home (he likes butt and belly scratches the most) and is suuuuper friendly and has a great disposition. He also loves going on runs and running next to a bike. He is crate trained and is capable of being home alone without accidents or issues. He has high energy and needs regular exercise and stimulation otherwise he gets anxious. Highly food motivated which is great for training activities. History: I found Charlie right before he turned 4 (July 22nd) on RescueMe after he showed up on the porch of a family down in Phoenix. He had been set loose on the reservation by his then previous owners who had kept him in a garage for most of his life. The family that found him had him for 3 months but couldn't keep him due to an older dog that they were already caring for. I stepped in and brought him to Flagstaff, AZ where I put him through a 2-week long training program and worked to normalize him in a home setting with another dog who he became best friends with until they moved out. This took time, effort, and patience but had excellent results. He currently lives in a house with 2 additional people roommates but no other dogs. I am currently looking to rehome him because I am unable to supply him with enough activity to keep him busy. I have a demanding job where I am away from home for large amounts of time and I am financially unable to send him to daycare regularly. I would like to find him a home where he is able to physically exert himself to his hearts content while he is still young. A very active home would be best or a good amount of space to romp around. For interested parties, please text the listed number or email me indicating your interest with your name, number, and a little bit about your situation. I will respond as I am able.
