About Hank

Hank is an old soul in a young body. He draws you in with his soulful looks and calm demeanor. And then charms you with his playful antics. He's got a lot of endearing sides to him. Hank came out of a hoarding situation, where he lived with fifty other dogs. Running free on five acres and in the rural neighborhood. He was part of the handful of dogs on the property who originally were valued pets. Before the population explosion that came from not altering some of the dogs overwhelmed the family. He enjoys people and is used to being part of home. Hank is a very sweet boy who can be slow to warm up. But once he's warmed up he will climb in your lap and stay by your side all day long. He is also very ok just relaxing on his own. He is pretty low maintenance. He's got a goofy side that comes out with toys and playing with his friends. He does have a shy, skittish side to him, from fending for himself for a part of his life. He can have moments where he gets overly concerned or worried about what is happening. But if given a moment to settle he will revert back to the charming boy we know and love. Hank is looking for a home that can give him the time and space to warm up on his own time frame. He can be coaxed along with chicken or dried liver treats. But in the end he's going to offer his affection on his own time frame. But once it's offered you've got a friend for life. He prefers a calmer household. So while he can be with kids and live with them, we'd like to see him go to household with older or no kids to help him settle in faster. He does well with other dogs, big or small. And will likely do best in a home with at least one other dog. He has a high prey drive so no cats or accessible pocket pets. But hasn't shown that prey drive with small dogs ever. Hank is a Shar Pei/Shepherd mix, approx 4 yrs old. Hank's adoption fee includes his completed veterinary exams. vaccines, microchip, neuter, and ongoing support as he settles into his new home.
