About Kustos

We began fostering Kustos in March, from a family that had taken him in as a stray nearly 2 years ago, but can't keep pets due to their living situation. Kustos is a sweet dog with a gentle demeanor, well behaved with a grasp of basic commands like 'sit'. He is super affectionate and likes to spend time with people, he's very chill and will take it easy nearby. He loves belly rubs, and his favorite toy is a pig squeaker toy that he likes to squeak and toss or play ball. We work from home but as Kustos has settled in, we've begun to leave him on his own for up to 8 hours at a stretch with no issues. He handles transitions like petsitters wonderfully, once someone came to petsit in our home, and twice we left him with a petsitter in their home, each time with no issues. He came from a home with two smaller dogs where they got along. We have 3 other dogs and Kustos gets along with two of them - our third is another male German shepherd and they don't get along (it's mutual, not atypical for GSDs). Kustos is leash trained though he may pull or bark if he's excited or encounters new people or dogs - we're working on this and he's getting much better. He is house trained; we typically try to walk him 2-3 times per day or let him out into our fenced dog run/yard (he will use a pet door). According to our vet, Kustos is approx 4-5 years old and in good health. His vaccinations are up to date and he is neutered.
