Corgi / Australian Cattle Dog

[Read About Natural Incontinence Care] Adopter wanted! -Special Needs puppy! Cooper is the sweetest, 8 month old petite, 28 pound, Corgi/Heeler mix. He has a noticeable deformity in his rib cage and a bit of a curve in his spine near his tail. After an x-ray and some time, he was on his feet and nothing could stop him. Really, who could say no to a face like this? Enter his new owners. They were visiting the new puppies when the breeder let them know they were planning to euthanize Cooper if he could not find a home. Heartstrings were pulled and he was taken home. They had agreed they could take care of him as long as there were no major health issues. Since that time, Cooper has become a snuggly, fun loving, smart, and playful puppy. He's a good boy that gets along with everyone including kids and other dogs. His problem is ongoing urinary and fecal incontinence. His current family simply picks up the poo and keeps him freshly supplied with dog diapers / belly bands just like one of the kids. Cooper has no issues with the diapers. He has no control over this. His owners contacted us, because they do love Cooper and don't want anything bad to happen to him. They especially don't want someone who abuses or punishes him for his accidents or makes him an outside dog. They have consulted with two vets who ultimately feel its definitely a neurological condition from birth, but without further testing at Purdue or similar there may not be a lot that can be done... and there may not be any good answers for him. One vet suggested acupuncture. His current family does not have the financial means to do any further testing. Cooper really is fine as is with owners who can handle changing diapers and minor clean up. The trade off for this special guy is a sparkling personality and lifelong companionship. He's wonderful. Cooper knows several commands, walks well on leash, quickly learns routines, is crate trained, and loves playing with toys. He is a good car rider and would love to go on adventures. He is used to a fenced yard but also would do well on a leash. Cooper's adoption fee is sponsored to an approved home. Cooper is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and heartworm negative.
