About Callie

Callie is a calm, low-energy adult 25lb chihuahua mix that is looking for her forever home. She has been with her current family for three years and she has been a PERFECT low-maintenance dog - except: she doesn't like teenagers, and that home now has multiple. She likes to unpredictably nip at their legs. She is not aggressive, it's almost herding-like behavior. They've tried to manage it but at this point it's not fair to her or to the kids to stay. The family is broken hearted but she has to go. She will be a delightful dog for someone without teens. Ideally a retiree or remote worker who can just hang out with her. She is amazing with all other ages including young kids. She does great with seniors. She's very low maintenance and low-energy and entertains herself with small soft toys, but she also enjoys occasional walks if that's your thing. She tends to be submissive/anxious but has come a long way in the past few years (she started out fearful of ceiling fans). Callie is housebroken (she rings a bell to go outside) and crate trained. She does not beg, jump, hump or counter surf. She tolerates cats and might befriend the right one. She is submissive to other dogs but doesn't currently live with one. She alerts and barks at the front door, so she potentially sounds threatening to strangers who approach, but she is not a guard dog in any way. She's just a sweet dog who wants a little petting and some kind words. Callie is ready to go: she has a nice metal crate, beds, food, bowls, toys, etc. She just needs someone to love her and give her a home.
