Brody is a Catahoula Leopard Dog mix. He is a very friendly dog, but he needs a home with a larger yard, older or no children and ideally another dog to live and play with. An older dog to show him the ropes and keep him in line would be ideal. He wants to run, chase, be chased and heard animals and people. He goes for 2 long walks (1hr+) every day. He's great with other dogs so far and great with everyone outside of our home, including children. He goes to our kids sports practices and games and has always been friendly with everyone he meets. Inside the home he sometimes resource guards and for whatever reason, he doesn't seem to like our youngest son. He growls and barks at him and our son is afraid of him as a result. He's a puppy and a herding breed so he play bites a lot and nips at heels. He resource guards his food and chews/bones. When he is resource guarding he will growl, bark and if approached snap at you. He can be lured away from the thing he's guarding with treats and he goes from guarding to friendly as soon as the object he's guarding is removed. He's never shown aggression toward strangers inside or outside the home. He enjoys walks, running, plays with toys and is very smart. He learns commands very quickly. He knows come, sit, down, paw, stand, up and off. We believe he would do best in a home with older children (high school+) and a larger yard. He's been limited to a large and expanding area in our home and is house broken within that area so far. He moves around the house with us when we're running around, but is restricted to his area when unattended. He usually lets us know when he needs to go out. In general he's a good dog, he just needs more room to run around and a doggy playmate to keep him busy.
