About Diamond

Adoption Fee: $60
Pit Bull / Bulldog
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Meet Diamond! This sweet little lady was found as a stray here in Haywood County, but was never claimed by her previous owners. We know she had a home at some point due to her docile nature. But she was in pretty rough shape upon intake so we believe it has been a long time since she has been loved by anyone. Let's try and find this girl a loving forever home! Here are some things we learned about Diamond while she has been in foster care: Diamond is lively and playful and loves tennis balls. She is a bit of a chewer and is learning the difference between off limits and dog ok items. She responds well to easy corrections to stop and let go of items she shouldn't have. She is learning eat, bedtime, sit and stay. She looovves to talk to people. She has a really stinking adorable throaty grumble she uses to greet her foster family when they come home from work. She loves belly rubs and ear scratches! And she has a very healthy appetite now that she is comfortable in foster care. She has only barked twice which has been as a signal to go outside. Overall, Diamond would be great in a house or apartment as she is very well potty trained, not a big barker and a smaller sized pup. Diamond is truly a diamond in the rough. She came into the shelter in awful condition. She was severely emaciated and had a couple of open wounds which could be from anything. After only a day in the shelter, Diamond wagged her tail so hard, smacking the sides of the kennel, until it began to bleed. This condition is called 'happy tail', and she is being kept in a larger kennel now to prevent it from happening to her again. She is just so happy to be loved and cared for that her tail has been going nonstop since she was brought in! Diamond is perfectly fine with other dogs and would do well in a home with kids where she can be loved on 24/7. We think a big family would be a dream come true for her; she's been waiting a long time! Diamond currently weighs 35.4 pounds and is roughly a year old at this time. She has been vaccinated, dewormed, and tested positive for heartworm disease and negative for all tickborne diseases. There are several cheaper methods of treatment for heartworm disease, but they cannot be done in the shelter environment due to the number of stressors. Do not let this be the thing that deters you from adoption! Please share our adoptable pets to help them find their forever homes.
