About Dutch

Boxer mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Dutch was living with my daughter's girlfriend, and the GF's mom decided he had to go. Not because of misbehavior, but because they live in a small apartment with another dog. My daughter doesn't believe in bringing him to a shelter, so I agreed to foster him while we try to find him a new family. He can't live with us because our busy life won't fulfill his needs. We also don't have a yard, and I believe he needs more space than we can offer. We were told that Dutch is seven years old. We don't know his health history, but he seems to be very healthy. His teeth, gums and ears all look good, and he appears to be well-fed. Dutch is house trained, and hasn't had an accident since he came to stay with us. Dutch is playful, but he's not overly energetic. He settles down quickly and is very calm and affectionate. He hasn't run around the house, and while he has barked a few times, it's only been when someone came to the door. Dutch understands basic commands, (paw, sit, lay), and comes when you call him. He's well behaved when I walk him on a leash. He's encountered people and dogs on and off the leash, and he was calm in every encounter. We've let Dutch out into our patio area with a gate (supervised) very day for the last week. He doesn't seem to be a digger, and he hasn't made any attempts to escape or to jump the gate. He also doesn't rush at the door when we open it.
