PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE BIO ON THIS DOG BEFORE REQUESTING AN APPLICATION. MANY OF OUR DOGS HAVE STRICT REQUIREMENTS FOR THEIR ADOPTION. 1. Needs a home with children over 12. 2. Would like a calm home and environment. 1 year old male Chihuahua, about 10 pounds. Jayden is a sweet, affectionate dog who loves to play and snuggle. He's happy to sleep in his crate at night or burrow under the covers in bed with you. He loves to play with his toys and with my large dog. Jayden walks well on a leash but will get startled when a large truck goes by. He barks when a stranger is near but calms quickly when told to quiet. He is timid when meeting new people. He would do well in a house or an apartment. He is a quick learner and responds well to positive reinforcement. He has quickly learned some basic commands and is very treat motivated. He has shown no sign of food aggression with humans or my other dog. He is mostly potty-trained, but we are still working on it. I do not know how he is around cats. He has only been left home alone, in his crate, one time for a few hours but he did just fine. He has never chewed or destroyed anything in the home or outside in the yard. Jayden is a snuggle bug who would be a wonderful companion dog in a calm home *without children* under the age of 12. He is slowly learning to live with my seven-year-old daughter, but he would prefer to be in a home without young kid energy and chaos. He has never shown aggression towards her, but he would thrive in a calm environment with slow and deliberate introduction to any children he may meet. Adoption contract and fee applies. Smidget Rescue is not a shelter, and dogs cannot be seen at the Rescue location. All dogs are fostered throughout the Puget Sound area and are brought to the events where they can be met by prospective adopters. Puppies are adopted with a refundable spay/neuter deposit (in addition to the adoption fee) and adopters are required to get their puppy to our vet for their pre-scheduled spay-neuter appointments. You must live within a three-hour radius of Seattle, WA, (such as Portland, Vancouver B.C., etc.), so we can arrange for a home visit. If your home seems like a great fit for the dog you would like to adopt, you must then drive to meet the dog at one of our weekend events or at the fosters home.
