About Briggs

Briggs is an extremely smart, well-trained, high energy dog who really wants to be a Good Boy. He does very well with adults who have experience with dogs and is overall a very good boy. Briggs would be an amazing pet for a home with active adult(s) whose children are either teenagers/older or who do not plan on having children for many years. He enjoys going for runs and hikes (he isn't the best at playing fetch due to his guarding behaviors... but we have been working on it and he really tries!). He would would thrive in an environment with a lot of structure and 'work' for him. Briggs is fixed, crate trained, has been trained and knows many commands, is house-trained, friendly with other dogs (as long as they can keep up with him) and is up-to-date on shots (although, as a heads up, he definitely does not like going to the vet... we have been working on that, too). Briggs lived most of his life in a home with another more dominant dog, and Briggs did very well with that, but since that dog passed away his guarding behavior has increased and is beginning to show low-level aggression towards the small ((5) children in his home. At this time, only adopters who have experience with dogs who have guarding/protective behaviors and who do not have young children in the home will be considered.
