Gloria was quite the favorite at the shelter. The employees would take her out of her run and have her keep company with them in their offices. Although her owners said she went through a fence to go after a neighbor's dog, she ignored the other dogs in the shelter as she was being led past them, and when she was in the play yard, ignored dogs outside the play yard. She may just not have liked the dog who lived next door. She is crate trained, knows how to sit and give her paw. She rides well in a car. Our kennel owner loves her and says she is very sweet and easy to care for. She exhibited no aggression toward other dogs at the kennel so far but there has been no close contact. The kennel owner says Gloria is her favorite Akita there. She was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism, but this is easily controlled with a pill AM and one PM.
