Everest was saved from a coyote attack by some good samaritans. He suffered a punctured windpipe and a hairline fracture in his clavicle. He came to us emaciated and extremely fearful but has since developed into a loving dog. We believe that he is a chihuahua/Italian Greyhound mix, as he has long legs and loves to run. He is around 3 years old and weighs 12 lbs. He is also fully vetted. Everest would do best as an only dog or in a family with another small calm dog who can help him with his confidence and anxiety; he is understandably fearful of big dogs. He loves running so would like a secure fenced in yard. He also loves playing with toys, and cuddling with his humans. He has recently learned to walk on a leash, although he can be a little skittish when a vehicle goes by. He is also a little nervous still to go outside after being attacked. He is working on potty training and doing well, but when in a new environment, he needs time to adjust and will have accidents. His new home will need to be patient and work with him. He wants to please. We do not know how he is with children or cats. Due to his past traumas, he would do best in a home with older kids or no kids at all. He gets anxious when left home alone but isn't destructive, he mostly whines. Car rides are still scary for him, and he finds crates very stressful. Everest absolutely loves attention and will follow his favorite person all around the house. He can be a little shy at first when meeting new people but is overall very trusting of humans.
