Hello, I grew up in an abusive home with very aggressive parents. The home was constantly unstable with domestic disputes that often ended in the police being called. 2 years ago, I adopted a Great Dane/German Shepherd mix named Pickles. About a year ago, my father got in my face as I was washing dishes and Pickles lunged at him. The next incident was when my parents were in each other's faces and one of them was about to hit the other. It continued with my dad yelling at Pickles and raising his hand to hit him. Pickles has not only become reactive to aggression (in people and in animals), but he has bit my mother as a result. Montgomery County has deemed him dangerous and I have 5 days to appeal it. To help save him, I need to find a rescue to take him, but most do not work with dogs with bite history's. This dog was normal before my parents' aggression and this is because of the environment we lived in. I do not believe it is his fault or his nature to be aggressive. I believe he thought they were a threat to me and he was protecting me. Do you have any resources or rescues that would help with a bite history? He is amazing and loyal. He loves to cuddle and play fetch. He is about 3 years old, up to date on shots, and neutered. He does get along with the neighbors German shepherd, but is better as an only dog. He showed no aggression leading up to my parents' outbursts.
