About Shep

Shep came to us in November of last year from our friends at Patrick County Public Animal Shelter. We could tell that has back end was off but couldn't tell the extent of his injuries. Both hips were very damaged from a traumatic injury and Shep underwent bilateral femoral head osteotomies at a specialists which cost $3,874! After undergoing such a majory surgery, we wanted Shep to have the very best results possible. He has been going to therapy at Augusta K9 Center to build up his muscle strength and mobility. Shep is almost now ready for adoption! He is about a year old and will be looking for a home who can leash walk him daily to make sure he grows into a strong, healthy boy! Shep is very well socialized. He is housetrained and has been in a foster home with lots of canine friends! He is potty and crate trained. He knows how to use the doggy door in his foster home. Shep has lost been fine round the cat in his foster home. Augusta Dog Adoptions is a 501c3, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and are scheduling individual adoptions in the Waynesboro, VA area during the pandemic. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
