About chinchillas

Hetero beige male chinchilla -- 'Chief' Pink white male chinchilla -- 'Squirt' Born approx. 8/2014 -- 8.5 years old **Chief does have a mild hernia -- this does not affect his daily life and at his age, unless it should significantly increase in size, does not warrant any additional care** Please READ this listing in it's entirety before you reach out inquiring about these boys. Chief and Squirt are a pair of chins that were surrendered to our rescue. They need a very specific home as they are very specific chins. Chief (beige) is the first to come up to the front of the cage and he is definitely not afraid of people, but (there's always a 'but')... he can be cage aggressive. He sometimes will lunge and nip at people reaching into his cage. This means -- this pair will need to go to a home with kids teenage age and older. Chief isn't difficult to scoop up (after all, he's *right there* at the front of the cage when you open it), but he is *NOT* a fan of being handled. He is an absolute squirm-ball and would much prefer to never be touched (and really, if you never reached in his cage, he'd love that even more). Squirt (white) is a little more reserved as far as coming up to the front of the cage, but when you scoop him up and have him in your arms, he is the calmer of the two, by far. He takes a moment to settle down when you first get him out, but he will chill with you for short periods of time. Both boys enjoy hiding in some sort of 'house,' and are very bonded to one another. They need to go to their new home together. Their ideal home is adults-only or adults with older children, where there won't be little hands trying to reach into the cage which may get nipped at. These two would prefer less handling, more alone-time. Maybe a wheel or playtime might also help to make them happy... they're simply not cuddlers.
