Fred is in danger. We adopted a larger breed puppy, Ludo, and Fred has not adjusted to the addition. Fred became aggressive towards Ludo which escalated into a fight. Ludo is 60 lbs at 8 months so the fight did not go in Fred's favor. I've tried crate-and-rotate approach by using reinforced gates in the house and separating them in the fenced areas of our land hoping that safe proximity would lead to tolerance. A second fight happened 2/18 and it doesn't seem that the relationship will change. I do not want to give up Fred but Ludo is a breed that will be so much harder to find a good home. I've resisted even thinking about looking for a new home for Fred but it's not fair to him or Ludo as they're both in constant stress and anxiety. Fred is such a clever and affectionate boy. He loves car rides, exploring, napping together and has a sweet balance of energy and calm. He will make a devoted pal and has not displayed aggression to our other dog or ones he meets. I don't know what else to do.
