About Cutie/Coffee

Doberman Pinscher
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

I found Cutie online back in July of 2022. The owner I got him from only had him for 6 months (His puppy history is unknown as his previous owners did not speak english so there was a bit of a language barrier when she adopted him). She told me the reason she was getting rid of him was because he wasn't kennel trained and she didn't have time to train him. She had 2 female dogs that he was happy around and 4 hound dogs. When I was there, he did not interact with the hound dogs, but did with the female dogs. (one was a poodle the other was a pitbull) When I adopted Cutie, I had a huge fenced yard. I had two other female dogs that he didn't have issues with. They were older Minpins. My ex and I split up soon after I got Cutie (my ex was extremely abusive toward me and then Cutie after I got him). The last interaction Cutie had at my previous home was bad. The night Cutie and I moved out, my ex hit him several times and I think it may have caused him reactive behaviors. After I moved, Cutie and I both stayed in a hotel for a few weeks. I kennel trained Cutie while we were there, and he now loves his kennel. I also got Cutie into puppy boot camp. He spent a month at puppy boot camp training and working on his anxieties. I moved in with my sister, but she already has a dog and a new born baby. Cutie and my sisters dogs do not get along. Her dog humped Cutie and Cutie bit him. Ever since then, we've had to keep the dogs apart. Recently though Cutie has has gotten extremely anxious or reactive whenever he hears my sisters dogs (we live in the basement) it's caused a lot of issues at the home, and today he snapped at me when I tried to take him outside because he was so anxious about the other dog. I've tried to find a place for us both to live, but right now I can not afford something on my own that allows pets this big. I've done my best to try and keep the dogs apart, but it's caused a lot of stress on Cutie and I'm not sure what else to do. I hate keeping him confined to the basement, as my sisters dog is a mostly outdoor dog. Cutie is very good on a leash, knows lots of commands, and is mostly a very sweet dog. I love him with all my heart, but I do not see how I can keep him as my living situation is too challenging. I want him to go to a home where he is free to roam and not have to worry about other dogs. I have had puppy play-dates with Cutie and my friends dogs, and he has never had issue with them. The only dog I've ever seen him be aggressive toward is the dog he lives with.
