About Kizer

Adoption Fee: $375
Great Dane
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Kizer is a magnificent, massive marshmallow of a dog looking for a loving forever home. Pal's Place rescued Kizer from an overburdened, high-intake animal control facility in Kentucky. He was found as a stray and, unfortunately, was never claimed. It is clear, though, that he was someone's loved companion at one point. He's social and well-mannered, knows a few commands, and is housebroken and crate trained. He currently weighs around 130 pounds and is estimated to be between 3-4 years old. He is a bit thin, and a more appropriate weight for this big boy is 150-160 pounds. Kizer is being fostered in Chicago while he awaits to meet his forever family. He has proven himself to be a wonderful houseguest and a perfect gentleman with everyone he's met, human and canine alike. We think he'll fit in easily with most households. He is a gentle and affectionate dog, but because of his size and unknown past, we will not place him in a home with children under ten years of age. Kizer shares his foster home with several other dogs of all sizes and is very sociable. He loves all of his foster fur siblings and thrives in the companionship of other dogs. Kizer would do best in a home with at least one other dog as a playmate and companion and, at this point, will only consider homes with at least one other dog as potential matches for him. We do not know how he is with cats. He has been in a foster home for several weeks and has done very well when left alone and being crated. He did go home on a trial adoption to a family in a condo building for several days. While on his trial adoption, he seemed to have a bit of difficulty settling in and would protest being crated and barked for quite some time when left alone. Noise complaints were becoming a concern, and both parties (the rescue and potential adopters) regretfully agreed that a condo or apartment setting will not be the best match for Kizer. Because of this learning experience, we will only consider a single-family home environment for him. Danes are wonderful, calm, and gentle companions but need a lot of space, food, and upkeep. Everything from beds to meds is exponentially more costly with a dog of their size. Please consider if you truly have the space and finances to care for a dog with such needs. Because he is in a foster home, an adoption application must be submitted and approved by the rescue before an appointment is scheduled to meet Kizer. He is anxious to meet his new family, please reach out to us today for an application! His adoption fee to the rescue is $375. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and taking monthly flea and heartworm prevention. For more information or an application, please email [email protected] or visit palsplacerescue.org. Adoption applications and correspondence from the rescue may end up in your spam or junk folder. If you are waiting for a reply from us, please also check those folders. We cannot hold our dogs for any reason. Please do not apply unless you are ready to meet and welcome a new companion into the home within three days of applying. 'ۢ Kizer's adoption fee to the rescue is $375. This fee helps to cover his vaccines, neuter, microchip, and any other necessary care needed to prepare him for adoption. All of our dogs are in foster homes while they await adoption and can be visited by appointment once an adoption application is submitted and approved by the rescue. To complete an adoption application online, visit http://palsplacerescue.org/adopt/ or email [email protected] for an application or more information. We cannot place holds on our dogs for any reason. Please do not apply unless you are ready to welcome a new member into the home within three days of applying. 'ۢ Pal's Place adoption fees start at $475 for puppies and $375 for dogs aged six months or older. This fee helps to cover medical expenses needed to prepare dogs for adoption (vaccines, microchips, spay/neuter surgeries, etc.), feeding, transportation, and general care for the dogs. Pal's Place is 100% reliant on donations to care for our rescued dogs.
