SHADOW was dumped at the cruel New York City kill pound where he was rescued from certain death and placed with an experienced foster who writes about the 2-yr-old 65 pound gentle giant exactly as follows: 'I've had Shadow at my dad's house in NJ and at my house here in PA. He isn't bothered by any stimulus: people passing, motorcycles, cars, bikes, baby carriages, kids playing, dogs being walked close by, and even a wheel chair race in the park didn't faze him! He does like to chase rabbits and squirrels, so I wouldn't recommend placing him in a home with cats but he should be fine with other dogs. I have taken his food away and taken toys from him and he shows no sign of resource guarding. And I can pet him all over with no sign of touch sensitivity. I've left him in the car while I run into the market and in the house uncrated with no problems. His kill pound notes say he has separation anxiety but I don't see any sign of this whatsoever. He is very well behaved in the home, car and yard, and Shadow has not chewed or destroyed anything in my home. He sleeps on his dog bed next to my bed all night, getting up only when I get up. He's had full access in our home from the second day, and loves being a couch potato as much as he loves running and playing in the yard. Shadow has the cutest little voice that sounds like a cross between a dog and a mouse that sounds more like a squeak than a bark. I love this dog! He has not been tested with children but had no reaction to them in the park, and I cannot imagine him being aggressive and I have seen no sign of aggression in him at all. He's very loving and always wants to be with his people. He loves my 97-yr-old father and even though he sometimes doesn't seem to know his own size or strength, is very gentle with him. I just have to keep him from climbing into his lap, lol. My dad seriously said he wants to keep him today! I'm not a trainer but I have a lot of dog experience and I think Shadow would be fine in a home with older, respectful children (7+) and another large dog with proper intros. A new adopter should continue working on his leash manners which have improved tremendously, but he's very strong so this is important. That being said, Shadow is a super sweet, well behaved rescue dog that will flourish in any loving home.' SHADOW has a low adoption fee of $200 but he'll arrive neutered, up-to-date on all shots, and his rescuers will transport him for FREE to virtually any home in the USA!
