About Sully

Sully is a very sweet boy who needs more room to roam than we have to offer. We adopted him from a friend when he was 8 months old and now he is 13 months old. Even though our friend had acreage, Sully was very lonely as the only dog. Unlike most Pyrenees, he needs to be with people and other dogs. He loves our other 2 dogs (cocker spaniel and chiweenie mix). Our chiweenie mix is his best buddy. He is very submissive with other dogs, but he will protect his territory against other large male dogs if they are not introduced slowly. Otherwise, when he meets dogs on mutual territory he is very curios and playful. He has never been around cats so I'm not sure how he would act with them. He is gentle and patient with our 7 year old grandson but does not necessarily want to play with him. His previous owner had chickens and ducks that the owner was hoping Sully would guard, but being a puppy, all he wanted to do was play with them. He never killed them, but chased them. Sully loves people and loves to be pet and brushed. He prefers to be outdoors but his desire to be with other dogs and people brings him indoors where his 'pack' is. He is smart and learns quickly. He knows a couple commands only because I haven't taken the time to teach him more. He would be very happy being on a farm and with another (preferably female) herd guard dog that could teach him the ropes. He would not be happy being by himself. Sully definitely has the guard dog instinct and his method of intimidation is by barking, and barking, and barking, day and night. And, if he could, he would guard our whole neighborhood by making his frequent rounds and marking his territory. But he is only able to guard our 1/3 acre now because we installed very tall fences that he can't jump anymore. I would only consider adopting Sully out to a family that lives on a large farm and has other dogs for him to hang out with. And that will let him hang out in the house when he wants to. Sully is fully vaccinated and is microchipped.
