MAINE #A2067935 Just a puppy at 11 months old ,Male, neutered,68 lbs. Came in as a Stray%BC. This sweet boy is shy and timid - but improving as he has more interactions with volunteers and staff. He would do well in a home that will give him a quiet place to decompress, and learn the routines. He would also definitely benefit from obedience training to help build his confidence and skill. Check out his behavior notes, and come meet MAINE at the East Valley animal shelter in Van Nuys, California, 818-756-9323 2/5/23 I met Maine for the first time today. He was a bit hesitant to be leashed. I entered his kennel, and coaxed him forward with treats. I was then able to leash him. Once out of his kennel, he had no reaction to other dogs. Outside during his walk, he showed some timidity and nervousness of his environment and different sounds. Regardless, he walked gently and without issue. On our way back inside, Maine would not enter through the door, And showed fear reactions. I coaxed him with a trail of treats, and patiently tried to get him to enter. I encouraged him very gently with the leash to coax him to enter, and he finally did. I praised him and gave him treats for that.He walked down the hallway with no issues. And I was able to get him back into his kennel with no issues. 1/29/23 %BC When I approached Maine's kennel, he was sitting with one of his paws pushed out under the door. He was a little shy but definitely gentle and was interested in a walk. However, he became somewhat frightened when having to pass 2 other dogs who barked at him and needed encouragement to get past them. (He showed absolutely no aggression toward either of them.) During his walk, he was unsure and hesitant part of the time, so I stopped and petted him each time before we resumed our walk. He needed encouragement to pass those same 2 barking dogs and get back to his kennel, but his behavior was always gentle and shy.
