Chip is a 12 month old lab and poodle mixed breed dog. He has very high energy but relatively low stamina. He has been training to become a service animal for the last 8 months so he understands basic and some advanced obedience, is potty trained, and crate trained. For multiple minor reasons including high energy, a phobia of going outdoors off leash (and quickly escaping a yard), sloppy obedience, and a high degree of destructive chewing even when given appropriate items, we do not believe chip is a good candidate to become a service dog. He has an incredibly kind nature, is soft hearted, but so busy all of the time that it is hard to capture his focus for long before he's actively looking for an item he knows he shouldn't have. At some point, chip seemed to stop maturing. He was an incredibly calm and confident puppy and seemed a perfect candidate for service work. Chip gets along well with everyone but doesn't want to be apart from his favorite person and must be an indoor dog as being let outside causes intense stress, even when he can see his people. Chip would be best with someone who will continue his extensive training.
