Jax is a tail waggingly-happy, loyal and loving, 10-year-old, 58-pound German shepherd-mix looking for a loving guardian. This handsome, snow-loving, dog lived with a single woman since he was rescued from a Georgia shelter. Sadly, his human was recently diagnosed with dementia and can no longer care for her best friend. Jax is perfectly housebroken, and well-behaved in the home. He is quite athletic and agile; he can still jump from the ground into the back of a Tahoe truck! Jax knows the command sit, and takes treats incredibly gently from your fingers. He has always lived peacefully with cats, not chickens, turkeys, or other dogs. He can be a bit quirky. One of his quirks is that he guards his human in her bedroom. While he gets along with everyone outside the home. In the home, he can be possessive of his person. So, for that reason, he's best in a position similar to the one he was in, as the only dog in the home with a single human - preferably female. His other quirk is that he's nervous in the car. He just pants and seems nervous. Luckily, he doesn't get car-sick. His third quirk is that he sleeps under the bed. Not a problem, just quirky. He is extremely healthy, up to date on all vaccines: rabies, distemper, bordetella, leptospirosis and canine flu. He is heartworm-tested negative, had full bloodwork panels done, microchipped and even had a dental. His adoption fee of $100 benefits rescue and includes everything you need to care for him.
