About Heidi

Adoption Fee: $200
Belgian Malinois
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

This animal is available to licensed rescue groups only. Please do not enquire unless with a licensed rescue group. Heidi came to us after someone else had found her and was taking her the local animal shelter (high kill.) We did not know what she was or that she was in the early stages of pregnancy. Puppies were born on Dec. 6th, 2022. She did very well with them and had no complications. She had a litter of five that have been rehomed. She is approximately 14-18 months old. She is a very typical Belgian Malinois now that we've researched the breed. She needs a family/human that is frequently nearby, has time to train her properly, is highly active, and has space for her to run. She has a very high prey drive. We have cats, and she hasn't hurt them, but she chases them regularly. She goes nuts chasing squirrels around our home. I do believe she would kill any she could catch...not to be malicious, but because she loves the chase and game. She has been around our grandchildren (6 year olds) and has never been a threat or scared them. She will follow a sit command from them. She lacks training, but will happily sit for a treat. We believe there is abuse in her background based on some of her reactions to sudden movements. She is very smart and super agile. She would make a fantastic hunting companion or some other type working dog. She would probably excel in agility competition. She needs to have a very clear purpose and lots of room to get the energy out. Do not reach out if you aren't familiar with the breed and its needs. We want her to go to someone who knows what to expect and is willing to do what's needed to give her a great life. Adoption fee is to reimburse some of her medical care. If she goes to a verified rescue adoption fee will be waived.
