About Jasper

Jasper is a 3 year old Red Heeler / Lapponian herder. I got him as a puppy and we have been buddies ever since. Jasper will devote himself to whoever has the treats. I am choosing to rehome him because I can no longer meet his needs and I do not have the financial resources to contribute to more training or veterinary bills. Jasper is a high energy, playful, determined, food motivated and smart dog. He has been through puppy training and successfully been to two different dog daycares. He knows commands such as sit, lay down and stay. He is very social in most settings but he can be unpredictable at times. He is protective of his items, my home space and of me. He has expressed anxiety through charging, barking and growling and has bared teeth at animals and humans he does not know well but he has not bitten anyone. He would benefit from someone who has experience training high needs dogs and could potentially muzzle train him. I use CBD and Trazodone (anti-anxiety meds) to manage his anxiety while we are in the world and ease him very gently into new situations. He also has a chronic shoulder and elbow injury that we are getting X Rays for and I assume the pain from his injury is the root of some of the aggression. We would love to find his forever home, with lots of space to roam and be able to get his needs met on a daily basis. He is up to date on vaccinations & is microchipped.
