Name: Lexie Age: 4 months Breed(as listed on paperwork): Golden/Husky mix Gender: female Weight: 23lbs Altered: no Crate Trained: working on it and going well Housebroke: working on it and going well Good with kids: yes Good with dogs: yes Good with cats: yes Foster location: Reedsburg, WI Little Lexie is the sweetest pup you'll meet! She loves snuggling up with her foster mom just as much as she loves playing with her foster siblings. Not much is known about Lexie's past, except she and her litter mates were found living under a porch. With that in mind, it is amazing the love and trust she continuously offers. Trainability: Lexie is such a quick learner! She has been responding well to clicker training. She is highly food motivated as well and is ready to do just about anything to get that treat! She has already learned to sit and has come a long way with the wait command. Leash training is still a work in progress, in typical puppy fashion, she is wanting to play with the leash. With consistent training and her growing up, I have no doubt that this will end Housebreaking: This sweet girl has not had a single accident in the house or in her crate. Which is super impressive for her age! When outside, she will go to the bathroom first thing. She has yet to show/tell when she has to go, but we are giving bell training a try. Crate: When it comes to her crate she is comfortable being in it. After a couple repetitions of asking her to go in the crate, she will oblige. Mainly because she knows when she goes in she will get a yummy treat! Temperament: Little Lexie has a sweet, submissive, playful temperament. She becomes upset when her foster mom is out of sight, even when other dogs are around. She plays well with the other dogs in the house, and has a blast! She has shown no aggression with toys or food. She does eat like it's her last meal, but considering she came from the streets, that is understandable. Much to her dismay, she eats from a slow feeder bowl because of this. She does seem to be more attached and affectionate towards people, than other dogs. Even during play time, she will randomly stop and make sure I am within sight before continuing to play. She is going to be someone's best friend and shadow, that's for sure. She loves playing with toys, especially stuffed animals. In true puppy fashion, if it is on the floor or within her reach, it is a toy for her! She can get mouthy, as all puppies do, so it's best to have plenty of toys and chews around for her. Interactions with others: Lexie LOVES playing with her 1.9 year old golden retriever foster brother! So far, she is a big fan of chasing and running around, but not much for rough housing. She is still a bit unsure of what is acceptable play, and is still a bit timid during play sessions. She has been living with an 11 year old, blind border collie and has been quite respectful of her. Lexie seems to understand that she is not the same type of playmate as the golden. Lexie is very interested in cats. At no point has she been aggressive towards them, but she does tend to bark at them and if they run, she will chase them. A perfect-fit forever home for Lexie will give her the affection, time, and life she deserves. She would benefit from another dog in the home, but given her age, this isn't required. She is likely going to be an active dog throughout her life, so understanding this and being able to provide her with the appropriate physical and mental stimulation is a must. She is ready to find her furever home and give a special one(s) all the love she has to offer, which is endless!
