About Remington 'Remi'

Adoption Fee: $50
Lab
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

I am looking for a loving home for my chocolate lab Remi. An individual on a Facebook page for Labradors suggested I attempt reaching out to your organization. Below I have some information on my baby girl, along with pictures and her vet records. Any guidance and assistance would be greatly appreciate. Remington 'Remi' was born on April 10, 2016. She is a female, non-registered, spayed Chocolate Lab. My fianc Jon and I purchased her from a breeder and brought her home early June of 2016. My fianc wanted hunting dogs, which was completely new to me as I had never owned dogs before. We got Remi and then in August of 2016 we also got a male German Shorthair Pointer named Thor, which I am also looking to re-home. Even when Remi was little she wasn't much of a snuggler. She preferred to stay in her kennel rather then up on the couch by us. Unfortunately, my fianc Jon passed away unexpectedly October 29th, 2021. Due to this fact the house we lived in had to be sold and I was forced to find a new home for myself, Remi and Thor. As you can imagine it is difficult enough to find a landlord who allows one large dog, but two was even more challenging. I finally did find a place to rent in Princeton, WI that allowed me to have both dogs, but due to the extremely expensive rent I am no longer able to sustain myself and need to move. Jon and I had lived on a lake in Montello, WI which Remi absolutely loved. She would spend all day in the lake with me chasing after frogs and fish. She also was excellent at launching off the dock going after a ball. She loves to fetch a ball, but is not the greatest at dropping it for you. Remi still tends to keep to herself most of the time, but does sleep with me some of the night. Either she will sleep down by my feet or above my head on the pillows. Remi is completely potty trained and never has any accidents. When I am out of the house she is free to roam the house and does not get into anything. She has been left alone for at least 8 hours several times, otherwise it is for shorter amounts of time. When I do get back home she gets VERY excited and does jump up on me, along with others that visit the house. I do try to work with her on this and she does seem to be getting a bit better. When I let her outside I have a shock collar on her, as I do live by a road. She rarely ventures toward the road, but has on occasion so I have to keep an eye on her. Most of the time she does stay where I can see her. If she does venture off all I need to do is have the collar on vibrate and she instantly comes back. Besides Thor, Remi has not been around many other dogs. Around Thor and the few dogs she has been around, she tends to be more alpha, so I am unsure how she would be with other dogs as she has not been around another in several years. She has never been exposed to cats or a dog park. I do not take her on walks as she does have the yard to wander in at this time. She has been around small children a few times throughout her life and did alright%BD'%BD|but am not sure how she would do at this time, as it has been several years since she has been around small children. Remi tends to be food driven and if Thor gets close to something she has she does show her teeth and growl a bit. She has never bit Thor, any other dog or human. I feed her Taste of the Wild 'Bison' flavored dog food. I have to admit I do put a few of Thor's kibbles (Nutri-Source Super Performance) in her bowl also for a little extra treat. I have always free fed her which has never been an issue. I would estimate that I give her around two cups of food twice a day. The current vet I have is Adams Marquette Veterinary Service in Oxford, WI. I believe her last rabies shot was in June 2021. Heartworm test was completed on 07-25-22 and I just gave her a dose of Heartgard Plus on 01-29-23. Her Distemper C8 DAPPV was completed on 06-18-21. I can obtain all her vet records. She has been a very healthy girl and weighs around 70 pounds. She is also chipped through HomeAgain. She is truly an amazing girl and it breaks my heart that I have to find a new home for her. I worry that she will have separation anxiety from me, so will likely need a home where she can get a lot of love, patience, and reassurance. I have copies of her vet records available.
