About Benji

Benji is a handsome, sociable, 3.5 to 4-month-old Shepherd mix pup searching for a forever family. This little dude weighs in at 20 pounds now and is expected to be in the 45-55 pound range when fully grown. Pal's Place rescued Benji and his two littermates from an animal control facility in Kentucky. His siblings have found their families; now it's Benji's turn! A DNA test performed on Benji's littermate revealed the pups to be 50% German Shepherd and the other 50% comprised of several breeds, including Husky, Beagle, Pit Bull, and several other breeds of undetermined origin, AKA super mutt. He may be a mix of many breeds but he is 100% good boy! Benji is a curious, social, energetic, and affectionate puppy who will make a phenomenal family companion Puppies are adorable and fun but require a tremendous amount of time, patience, and energy during their first year or so. Puppies this age and size need potty breaks every 2-3 hours, along with lots and lots of playtime and attention throughout the day. They will do best in homes where someone is home more often than not and with families prepared to take on crate training, housebreaking, and basic obedience training. Please consider if you truly have time for a puppy before applying, and please consult with all family members in the home before applying. Benji is neutered, up-to-date with age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and started on flea and heartworm prevention. Their adoption fee to the rescue is $475. These guys are being fostered on Chicago's north side and can be seen by appointment after an adoption application has been submitted and approved by the rescue.
