About Morgan

This beautiful guy came to us all the way from Kabul, Afghanistan! Morgan has become so trusting with us. He's finally learning how to be a dog and what it entails. When we first got Morgan he had just come off a 15 hour flight to California and a 40+ hour drive to CT. The stress from the traveling along with the new and very very different environment made Morgan very weary of trusting us at first. Morgan has gotten SO much more comfortable and trusting towards us since his intake! His progress is astonishing if we look back on how far he has come! Morgan is a 2.5 year old, neutered male, Anatolian Shepherd/Lab mix, that is around 50lbs. He is a very quiet boy unless he's hungry! He doesn't rip blankets or towels and usually doesn't make a mess. He's VERY food motivated and he LOVES chicken! Morgan gets along with most other pups but has a select few he isn't a fan of. Morgan would be good with teens and up only because his new family needs to be able to understand that at first he will have boundaries and he will need his new family to respect them and earn his trust! Morgan is shy at first but he warms up with treats! He isn't super affectionate with new people but when he fully warms up, which will take a little bit, he's great! Since he trusts us now we have been trying to work with Morgan on leash training. Keep in mind Morgan was in a shelter in Afghanistan from when he was a puppy and was never leashed before he came to us. We have not yet been able to walk him on a leash but we were able to get a collar on him. The idea of something constricting his neck seems to freak him out. With time and effort Morgan will be able to learn how to walk on a leash. Morgan is an awesome boy who has grown TREMENDOUSLY from when we got him! We couldn't be more proud of his progress!
