About POLLY

Meet POLLY! STATS: 14 month old female Puginese pup! LOCATION: Pensacola FL NEEDS: Active family who will play with her and spend lots of time with her, another dog in the home and a fenced yard preferred. HIGHLIGHTS: Sweet, happy, and energetic! Polly is a 14 month old, 16.6 pound Pug Pekingese mix who was surrendered because her family was unable to care for her. She is a happy, energetic girl with the cutest underbite! Polly is shy with strangers, and takes a day or two to warm up. Once she is comfortable, she would like to be a lap dog, please! She is very friendly and really enjoys spending time with her family. Polly would love a family that will spend a lot of time playing with her, or possibly another energetic dog or both. She gets along well with her foster brother and sister and would love a doggy play buddy in her home. She likes to play rough and can be a little mouthy so home with little kids is not a good idea. We have not had her around cats. Polly has good energy and likes to play fetch with little plush squeaky toys. She is very curious, and likes to check every corner and table top of a room. She enjoys picking tissues out of the garbage, and taking random things off the coffee table to chew on. Polly rides ok in the car, and is pretty good on a leash. She is nervous walking in a strange area, and tries to bolt back home every now and then. She might get over this as she becomes more secure with her own family, but we would prefer a home with a secure fenced yard for her just in case. She is working on her house breaking, and might use pee pads about half the time, but just this morning woke her foster mom up to go outside to potty! Progress! At night Polly sleeps in a dog bed on the big bed, and might snuggle if there was less competition from other fosters! She has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, fecal tested, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. Polly is heartworm positive and has started treatment which is provided by the rescue until she tests negative. Her spay will be scheduled at one of our vets soon and is covered by the rescue. Applicants should live within a 1-2 hour drive to Pensacola. Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral issues are only adoptable within a 1 hour drive to Pensacola. *We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a facility. Our dogs live in private homes in and around the Pensacola area until they are adopted. *To meet a dog or be considered for adoption you must first submit an adoption application for review.
