Bluey is a 1.5-year-old, 13-pound blue merle miniature Australian Shepherd. Bluey is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and heartworm negative. Bluey found his way into rescue after his owners newborn kiddo was found to be severely allergic to him. Bluey's foster family has loved watching him open up and show his spunky personality. Bluey is mostly housetrained. He has had a few accidents in his foster home when not let out regularly. Bluey also 'nervous piddles' when he meets new people and they try to touch him. When Bluey came into rescue, he was very shy and reserved while seeking attention. When he was approached to be touched, he cowered and piddled himself. After a few days, Bluey learned he could trust his foster family and stopped piddling on approach. Bluey is also mostly crate trained. He knows the command 'crate' and runs into his crate without issue. He barks for the first few minutes when the humans are out of site and then quiets down but finds amusement in eating the blankets inside the crate and trying to escape. Bluey has not been left unattended in his foster home to see if he would be destructive when left alone, but he does like to sneak the family's shoes when they aren't looking. Bluey does sleep in bed with his foster family without issue. Bluey previously lived with 2 toddlers, whom he is reported to have loved and slept with. Bluey also lived with a female dog. In his foster home, Bluey has reacted poorly to male dogs of all sizes. Bluey is very fond of the female dogs in the home. Bluey has lunged at the cats in the foster home and is not recommended for a home with cats. Bluey is very smart and easily trainable. He knows a few commands and seems to learn them just in 1 day! Bluey is not initially welcoming of guests in the home and does alarm bark. Bluey's foster mom said they became best friends after just 3 days and he follows her everywhere. He is very snuggly and loyal. White he does need a lot of mental stimulation, he is also a total snuggle bug. Bluey's ideal home will have a fenced-in yard, no cats, and a female dog to play with. Bluey is being fostered in Syracuse, NY and is available for an adoption fee of $375.00. Applications may be submitted via the following website: www.sophiasgracefoundation.org
