About Katalina

Bengal
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

***CALIENTE!!!!*** Katalina 'Leena' is a two-year-old purebred Bengal cat who was surrendered to us in Arizona. Her owner did not bother to spay her, and when she got out of the house, she found herself an unwed single mother.%A0 Leena soon gave birth to three kittens that she wanted NOTHING to do with. (Don't ask to adopt her kittens, please, as their families have already been secured).%A0 We transferred the kittens to a rescue with neonatal experience, and now it's time for us to work to secure a happy future for Leena. Soon after giving birth, she went to one of our most experienced fosters, who has worked with extreme cases. We needed that foster's expertise, because Leena turned out to be one of the most fractious cats we've ever known. She turned on her kittens and they had to be separated from her. After about a week, we realized that she would do best with a quiet foster home where she would get a lot of 1-1 time.%A0 Leena's new foster has put so much time and effort into gaining her trust. When she arrived she was very fractious and reactive (Leena - not the foster!). Her foster was extremely patient with her, while she allowed Leena all the time in the world to decompress and settle in.%A0 Finally - Leena is 'catting!' She is an expert at playing fetch. She is so happy to have so much attention, and she is absolutely darling! Leena is not a finicky eater.%A0 She will sleep throughout the night without nocturnal exploring.%A0 She is easily redirect-able after unwanted behavior.%A0 She is quite talkative when she wants something.%A0%A0 Leena is very responsive to praise (verbal and touch) and she sure enjoys a treat or two or three.%A0 Leena is picky when it comes to toys - like small toy mice that fit in her tiny mouth.%A0 Leena loves to jump around in boxes and packing paper.%A0 %A0She will play 'chase me-chase me' or hide and seek.%A0 Leena is quickly learning to use an exercise wheel independently.%A0 She is a clever problem solver and tries to catch the toy at the moment you throw it!%A0 Sometimes, Leena is not real graceful while chasing prey, she gets so excited. Although Leena will follow you around the house, use caution, as she is a 'door dasher' since she recently learned to walk on a leash. She is easily bored and energetic, demanding play time.%A0 She can be very sassy when she does not get her way!%A0 Leena has some separation anxiety and will meow for a few minutes after you leave the house.%A0%A0 Leena is not a 'lap leopard' so do not expect her to cuddle as she is a very independent Bengal, and prefers not to be held.%A0 Since she is still young, she is slowly learning how to not use her full nails/teeth during play.%A0 When she is displeased with you, she will give you a certain stare and it is best to leave her alone for a while.%A0%A0 Leena has not been around dogs and cannot go to a home with children under the age of 10. Leena has no medical issues. She uses her litter box faithfully. Leena has been spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. She is a very healthy girl.
