About Kirby

Hello everyone. My name is Kirby. I am a pure Australian Shepherd who was part of a cruelty case in FL. The woman who had me told people she had a grooming business, but she was actually using us for breeding hybrid dogs that people paid good money for while I and the 30 other dogs spent our lives in cages standing in our own waste. And that's how it went for years until someone cared enough to rescue us from that hell. I am about 3 years old and 55-60 pounds. I have been fostered for many months on a farm here in FL and I love to be outside running with other dogs. I have learned not to chase the cats (though might need reminding if my new home has one). I even have been around large farm animals like cows without incident. Because of my ruff early years, I'm a bit nervous around new people and need some decompression time. So, if you ignore me for a couple of days but let me go out to run around, I'll be good. After that, though, I'm happy to give you loving. I am crate trained and house broken. Because I am an Aussie, I am going to need a home with working dog experience that can give me plenty of exercise and keep my brain stimulated. I'm even up for some agility training.
