Meet Bennett Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email [email protected]. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/. Please note that because all of our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be about an hour of Wilmington, DE in order for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in person home visit. SPECIAL NEEDS : almost completely blind Bennett came to SDHH in October from ACCT where he was picked up as a stray. He was in horrible shape with an extremely nasty skin/eye/ear and respiratory infection. He had some significant medical issues for us to tackle, but through most of it, he was a real champ. Medicated baths and several rounds of antibiotics later, we continued to battle his chronic dry eye issues until he was finally and successfully treated with eyedrops that made a difference. Bennett is a wonderfully well rounded pup who is loyal, calm and friendly. He has proven to be housebroken in his foster home, with potty breaks during the day. Not a fussy eater, he is not on a special diet, and loves the occasional snack! He is an easy walker who, despite his limited vision, navigates all his environments well. He currently lives in a foster home with small, large, male and female companion dogs and gets along beautifully with them. Bennet requires eye meds 2X a day which he is not a fan of. His foster family has managed a way to make it work. Best home setting : Bennett, due to his limited vision, would do best in a home with low traffic and teenage or older household . He LOVES his walks - so a semi active life style would suit him best. Surgeries / procedures thru SDHH Neutered Mass removal (benign) Dental - several teeth removed Vaccines UTD Stool and Urine negative Heartworm Negative Microchipped Senior Panel bloodwork completed Eye exam and recommendations completed Current meds / monthly cost : Eye drops Tacrolimus 0.03% 1 drop each eye 2X a day - approx cost $60.00 /month Heartworm / flea & tick medications - as recommended per vet
