About Elly

Everyone meet Elly, a super sweet border collie cattle dog mix. She is young, petite at just under a year old. She weighs in at 27 lbs, this little dog will melt your heart. Elly came from a hoarding case (lots of loose dogs and cats on the property) so she basically raised herself and was partially feral upon intake. She was very scared when she first came to us and we could tell she has had very little to no handling by people. Elly was never aggressive, just fearful and skittish. Elly also had mange and Giardia but she is all cleared up and looking/feeling gorgeous. She does need to put some more weight on her but is otherwise healthy. Elly is still shy and skittish at first but is starting to warm up to people. She LOVES human affection and will be your little shadow once she is bonded to you. Elly is also good with dogs! She loves to play but can play rough at times. We think from her upbringing but she loves to run and play with other dogs. She would do great with another friendly dog in the household. Elly need some work still!! She needs some work on leash training. She can walk on leash but is hit or miss. She needs to build up her confidence!! I think once she establishes a bond with someone, this will be easy but the person inquiring for her needs to know that there is some work that is needed to be done with her. She acts like a very young dog! Elly Needs: - HERDING DOG EXPERIENCE- a savvy handler who is familiar with herding breeds and their tendencies. She is fairly high drive and has tons of potential but needs work. PATIENCE. She is young and has minimal training. She is picking up training very fast but she will need training to continue her journey. A FENCED YARD: We do consider her a flight risk at first as she needs time to settle. Her foster considers her a 'sticky' or Velcro dog around him and the property now after she settled in. After settling, she is not a flight risk. Elly would do best with a yard where cars don't drive past as she will chase them. COMMITMENT TO TRAINING: a person or family really willing to be committed. She is amazing but has fairly high drive. She loves toys and balls!!! Super playful and fun dog to have around. She needs someone committed to keep the training up. Elly travels best in a crate in the car. MUST BE ACTIVE: She is gonna be a great outdoor companion!!! This is not a house only dog. Prefer not to place in city or urban environment. Elly is fully vaccinated, spayed, microchipped and ready to go to her new home. A meet and greet is a must!
